Scamps and Champs takes a home-based approach to dog boarding: dogs stay with a host family instead of in kennels or cages. Owners considering the arrangement are encouraged to visit the host family beforehand, giving them a chance to get to know the household where their dog would stay.
The service is associated with Stockport, a Greater Manchester town whose centre sits where the Goyt and Tame meet to form the Mersey. Stockport grew as a medieval market town, then developed a varied craft and workshop tradition that included textiles, leatherwork, buttons and hats.
